Design for Assembly
The task was to take apart an inexpensive product and redesign it for a lower assembly unit cost. Below is an exploded drawing of the original product and all of its components.

I redesigned 2 parts: the switch and motor holder
Switch redesign: I changed the exterior profile of the switch to be a square instead of an oval which reduces the alpha angle of the part from 180 to 90 degrees.

Motor Holder Redesign: I reduced the number of screws in the motor holder by 1, increased the size of the locating notch at the top of part, and added a window in the part to increase visibility when placing the part in the outer body shell.
